We offer eggs and meat from pastured poultry. Our chicken tractors allow us to pasture our poultry in small, natural sized flocks, giving the birds access to fresh grass, bugs, and grit daily. We also feed them with non-GMO, soy-free grain. All of this adds up to the healthiest, happiest animals–both for their own sake and for yours!
How do you know when you’ve cracked open a healthy, delicious egg from a pastured hen? The answer is in the yolk! A deep yellow-orange indicates the hen is healthy, the egg is healthy, and what you are eating is healthy!
Our eggs are from our flock of Icelandic Landrace Chickens. These chickens originated in Iceland and are incredibly hardy birds, thriving on foraging pastures and extreme weather. Also known as Icies, the hens lay white to cream colored eggs. These chickens are relatively rare–both in numbers and in beauty! Ask to come check them out next time you’re at the farm!
Our eggs are $5.00 a dozen and we sell them at the CSA stand during the summer or from the house the rest of the year. Please contact us if you’d like to buy eggs from us!
Some of our Icelandic hens brooded and hatched their own chicks this year! The chicks arrived just in time for Easter, with the first chicks hatching on Holy Saturday and more chicks continuing to hatch until late Easter Monday. The natural mothering instinct that Icelandic Landrace chickens have retained is one of the characteristics that we like about these beautiful birds.
Freedom Ranger Broilers
We are also raising Freedom Ranger chickens for table fowl. You can look forward to a delicious, healthy Sunday dinner of roast chicken, a weeknight of chicken and dumplings, a lunch of homemade chicken salad, or another of your favorite chicken meals. Freedom Rangers have been bred to develop a healthy, deliciously meaty carcass on pasture. Our first batch of Freedom Ranger broilers arrived in the mail as chicks on Wednesday, April 8th and should be ready for dinner by the middle of June. Please contact us if you are interested in buying some chicken for your dinners!
We currently have a flock of guinea fowl that we allow to roam freely on the farm. Guinea fowl are notable in their ability to keep down the tick population.
I love getting eggs from Good Soil Farm because I know that they nourish my family far more than grocery store eggs. I have spoken directly with the farmers to learn about their chicken care practices and I can see firsthand the happy lives that these chickens lead. Beyond that, the eggs speak for themselves! Their sturdy shells and golden yolks speak volumes about the chickens which produce such happy, healthy eggs!

My family eats a lot of eggs, and I try to get my eggs from a healthy and honest source. Not only were these eggs tasty, I am confident that they are of highest quality. Not to mention, the price was unbeatable compared to those eggs at a supermarket!
